Forefront reports can help you move from reviewing assessment results to planning targeted support. Use the interactive data table to create a custom cohort, examine the group’s item-level or standards-level performance, and create an intervention course for the selected students.
Before You Begin
To create an intervention group from a report:
Your school or district must have at least one course tagged as Intervention. Learn more about this step in the article, Configure Intervention Courses.
Your permission set must allow you to create or manage intervention groups.
Students must have results available for the assessment you want to review.
The options and navigation pathways you see may vary depending on your account permissions and your school or district’s configuration.
Create a Custom Cohort from a Report
Navigate to the Reporting Suite and open the report containing the assessment results you want to explore.
The data table below each report is interactive. Select a category in the table to begin creating a custom cohort based on the criteria most important to you.
Select Add as Cohort to refine the selection criteria for the student group.
Define the Cohort Criteria
You can create a cohort using criteria such as:
Scores
Proficiency levels
Percentile ranges
Define the selected range by entering minimum and maximum values. When using percentiles, select the dataset against which student performance should be compared:
Local: District-level performance
State: State-level performance, when available
Global: Forefront’s national comparison dataset
State-level comparisons are available within the Global selection menu.
In this example, we created a cohort of students who scored at or below the 40th percentile compared with the national dataset, labeled Global in reports.
Review the Cohort’s Assessment Results
After creating the cohort, toggle off the other student groups to focus the report on the selected cohort.
Switch the report type to Question Analysis to review performance item by item. (Learn more about the Question Analysis Report.) Use these results to identify patterns, specific areas of need, and potential priorities for targeted instruction.
Create the Intervention Group
Select Create Intervention to set up an intervention for the cohort.
Note: The Create Intervention option is available only when your school or district has at least one course tagged as Intervention. Learn more in the article Configure Intervention Courses.
Select the details for the new group, including:
Intervention course
School
Intervention teacher
Select Create to create the intervention group in Forefront.
Open the Intervention Group
The pathway to the intervention course may vary depending on your permissions. In the above-linked example, the user has building leader permissions. In the building leader view, navigate to the intervention course and select the newly created group.
From the intervention group, you can:
Review the classroom overview
Explore student performance across assessments
Adjust the intervention course configuration
Enter or review additional assessment results
Access instructional resources available for the selected program
Plan Instructional Support
After identifying students and creating the intervention group, use the Next Steps for Instruction resources to connect assessment results with targeted instructional strategies and activities.
