Preparing for Parent Teacher Conferences

This article provides recommendations for in-person discussion tools and printable options for engaging with families.

Want to share standards-based data efficiently? Start with the Proficiency Wheel.

The Proficiency Wheel gives you a dynamic visualization of where a student is strong and where they are still growing. Click any standard in the wheel to open the body of evidence behind it: the assessments and tasks that produced that proficiency level. Note that these student-level visualizations are customizable at the district level and may vary from district to district. Learn more.

Do you need documents to send home or include with report cards?

Many of Forefront's preconfigured assessment collections include family letters (handouts) for USNS, DIBELS, Fractional Reasoning Screeners, Bridges in Mathematics, and more. These letters are included with all subscription plan tiers.

Build or customize your own

Forefront's handout editor, included in Basic and Premium plans, lets schools and districts create their own documents or adapt Forefront's.

Do you need a printable summary of all of a student's assessments?

Print or save the Assessment History.

  1. Open the student page

Click a student's name wherever it appears linked in blue, then select the Assessment History tab across the top.

  2. Open the three-dot menu

Click the three dots to the right of "Assessment History" and toggle on overall score (if wanted and available) and Show Print Selection. Print Selection is what lets you choose which assessments to include.

  3. Choose what to include

Use the drop-downs and toggles to expand information and include or exclude individual assessments.

Use the caret to display question level details and include them in the printed document.

  4. Print or save as PDF

Press Ctrl + P (Windows) or ⌘ + P (Mac), or right-click and select Print.

    • Turn on background colors, or the proficiency colors will print as blank cells. In Chrome, expand More settings and check Background graphics. Other browsers label this differently, and print dialogs vary by system.

    • To share digitally, choose Save as PDF as the destination instead of a printer. Useful for virtual conferences, or for emailing a family who could not attend.
