Handout: A printable, personalized document, most often a family letter, built once as a template and generated per student with that student's own data filled in.

Block: One section of a Handout's content. Block types include Text Block, Heading 1/2/3, Table, Ordered List, Unordered List, Image, File, Divider, Number Line, Page Break, Stack, Link (QR Code), and Guardian Invite Link.

Guardian Invite Link: A block that links a family member into the family/guardian portal.

Link (QR Code): A block that adds a clickable link and a matching scannable QR code together.

Body / Header / Footer: The three areas of a Handout page, switched between using the view control in the top right of the editor. Header and Footer content repeats on every page.

Private / Public: A Handout's visibility. New Handouts are private while being built. Only a public Handout can be added to a course.

Clone: Creates an editable copy of an existing Handout, leaving the original untouched. Handouts provided directly by Forefront, such as the Starter Pack, must be cloned before they can be edited.

Handouts Starter Pack: A set of sample Handouts provided by Forefront for reference. It does not ship with every district by default; an account manager adds it after requested by a school or district client.

Legend: Not a built-in block. Some Handouts include a heading and table explaining abbreviations, but this is just typed content, not a feature tied to the real Text Mapping labels used elsewhere in the Handout.

Create: A right-click menu option that opens the same block-type menu as the plus sign, letting you insert a new block without leaving the right-click menu.

Duplicate: Copies the selected block (or table row/column) directly below or beside itself.

Turn Into: Right-click a block and choose Turn Into to convert it to a different type. Confirmed options are Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Ordered List, and Unordered List.

Adjust Margins: A right-click option that opens margin settings for the selected block.

Insert Row Above / Insert Row Below: Row-tab commands that add a new table row directly above or below the selected one.

Insert Column Left / Insert Column Right: Column-tab commands that add a new table column directly left or right of the selected one.

Duplicate Row / Duplicate Column: Row-tab or Column-tab commands that copy the selected row or column.

Modify Cell Background: A Cell-tab command that sets a cell's background color. This is also the entry point into Color Based on Proficiency for dynamic coloring.

Modify Cell Borders: A Cell-tab command that changes a cell's border style.

Align Top / Align Center / Align Bottom: A Cell-tab command that sets how content sits vertically within a cell.

Cell Padding: A Cell-tab command that adjusts the space between a cell's border and its content.

Modify Row Inclusion / Modify Column Inclusion: A Row-tab or Column-tab command that applies a Modify Inclusion rule to an entire table row or column at once, instead of a single block.

Move Row Up / Move Row Down: Row-tab commands that reorder the selected row.

Move Column Left / Move Column Right: Column-tab commands that reorder the selected column.

Resize Columns: A Table-tab command that opens sizing controls for the table's columns.

Evenly Distribute Columns: A Table-tab command that resets all columns in the table to the same width.

Move Selected Blocks Up / Move Selected Blocks Down: Table-tab commands that move the entire table (or another selected block) up or down in the Handout.

Stroked / Borderless / QR Code Only: Style options on a Link (QR Code) block. Stroked keeps a box around the link and QR code, Borderless removes it, and QR Code Only hides the link text and shows just the scannable code.

Edit URL: Opens the field to change the link a Link (QR Code) block points to.

Edit Display Text: Opens the field to change the visible text families see next to the QR code, separate from the URL itself.

Use Short URL for Label / Use Full URL for Label: Controls whether the visible link text shows the shortened ffqr.link address or the full original URL.

Align QR Left / Align QR Right: Positions the QR code and link within the block. Note that center alignment on a Link (QR Code) block is only available in QR Code Only mode.

Dynamic Content: Text or a table cell's color tied to a student's real data, so it renders differently for each student instead of staying the same for everyone.

Text Replacement: The panel used to configure dynamic text. Opened by highlighting text and selecting the dynamic content icon in the text toolbar.

What is the text based on?: The first choice in Text Replacement: Student Info, Term Name, Proficiency, Assessment Score, or Date.

Suggestions: Text Replacement options that reuse a configuration already set up elsewhere in the same Handout, so a repeated setup does not need to be built twice.

Standards Configuration: A data source based on one or more standards, pulling from any assessment that reports on them.

Assessment Configuration: A data source based on one specific assessment, selected by name.

Select Standards: The dialog used to search for and select one or more standards for a Standards Configuration.

Select Assessment: The dialog used to browse Resources and choose a single assessment for an Assessment Configuration.

Data From / Data To: The date range a dynamic value is calculated over. Defaults to the school year's start and end.

Assessment Filter: An optional narrowing of which assessments count toward a dynamic value.

Extremum: Which single value to use when a student has more than one matching data point in range, such as Latest.

Include Partial Data: An Assessment Configuration option that counts a student who has not completed every question on the assessment.

Merge Assignments: An Assessment Configuration option that combines multiple assignments of the same assessment into one value instead of treating them separately.

Text Mapping: The wording shown to families for each proficiency level (Needs Support, Developing, Approaching, Proficient, Advanced, Not Assessed). Defaults come from the district and can be overridden per Handout.

District Default: The district-wide default color or wording for a proficiency level, used unless overridden on an individual Handout.

Select Color / Color Based on Proficiency: The panel used to tie a table cell's background color to a student's proficiency, configured the same way as Text Replacement.

Modify Inclusion: A rule that controls whether a block is shown at all for a given student, rather than changing its text or color.

What is the choice based on?: The first choice in Modify Inclusion: Proficiency, Assessment Score, or Student Demographic.

Proficiency In / Is One Of: The condition structure for a Proficiency-based Modify Inclusion rule: the student's proficiency in the selected standards or assessment must be one of the chosen levels.

Minimum / Maximum: The condition structure for an Assessment Score-based Modify Inclusion rule: the block shows only when the student's score falls within the given range.

Require All: In Modify Inclusion, controls whether a student must match every selected standard or condition, or just one, for the block to show.

Handout Preview: A view of the Handout exactly as a specific student's family would receive it, with all dynamic content filled in. Requires choosing a school year (Term) and a student.

Handout Download: The export dialog used to generate a Handout as a PDF.

Cohort Type: In Handout Download, whether handouts are generated by Student, Course/School, or Class.

Packaging: In Handout Download, how multiple students' handouts are bundled together, such as a single combined PDF.

Collation: In Handout Download, how generated pages are ordered or grouped.
