With the QR codes in Handouts, a link shortener is in use. Links work when typed directly, but are blocked on school computers. Why?
QR codes in Handouts use a link shortener at the domain ffqr.link. Add ffqr.link to your district's approved sites list and the links will work. Families typically will not run into this, since they access links outside the district firewall.
A cell's color does not match its proficiency text. What happened?
The color and the text in a proficiency cell are configured separately, through Select Color and Text Replacement, and can end up pointing at different standards or a different assessment. Open both and confirm they reference the same source. Also check whether either one is still set to “District Default” when you meant to override it.
A Handout looks broken or blank when I preview it. What's wrong?
This usually means the student used for the preview does not have data for the standard or assessment the Handout references. Preview using a student who already has real data on record.
Why can't I edit or clone a Handout from the Starter Pack?
Handouts provided directly by Forefront, including the Starter Pack, are global versions and cannot be modified directly. Right-click the Handout and select “Clone” to create your own editable copy.
I finished building a Handout, but I can't add it to a course. Why?
New Handouts are private by default while they are being built. Toggle the Handout to public before trying to add it to a course.
What is the difference between Standards Configuration and Assessment Configuration?
Standards Configuration pulls a student's proficiency from one or more standards, using data from any assessment that reports on those standards. Assessment Configuration pulls from one specific assessment instead, by question or by its overall score. Use Standards Configuration for a broader, ongoing picture, and Assessment Configuration when the Handout is tied to one particular assessment.
What does “Extremum” control?
Extremum controls which single value is used when a student has more than one matching data point within the selected date range, for example if a standard was assessed more than once. Setting it to Latest keeps the most recent result.
What does “Require All” do in Modify Inclusion?
When a Modify Inclusion rule has more than one selected standard or condition, Require All controls whether a student must match every one of them for the block to show, or just one of them.
Can Modify Inclusion be based on a score range instead of a proficiency level?
Yes. When a rule is based on Assessment Score, set a Minimum and Maximum instead of choosing proficiency levels, and the block shows only when the student's score falls in that range.
Is there a “Legend” block for explaining abbreviations to families?
No. What looks like a legend in some Handouts is just a heading and a table typed in like any other content. It is not tied to the real Text Mapping labels used elsewhere in the Handout, so it has to be kept in sync by hand if those labels change.
Can a Handout show different content based on something other than proficiency?
Yes. Modify Inclusion can also base its condition on Assessment Score or Student Demographic, in addition to Proficiency, so a block can be shown or hidden using whichever fits the situation.
I don't see “Create Handout” in the New menu. Where is it?
It's there, listed alongside Create Report Card Handout, Create Document, and Create Assessment. It can take a moment to appear if the menu is still loading. Also confirm you're inside a folder you have edit access to, since some Forefront-provided folders are read-only until cloned.
